About
About BTU to Watts
A focused tool for engineers, HVAC professionals, students, and anyone who needs accurate power unit conversions without the clutter.
Our mission
BTU to Watts exists to make one narrow problem dead simple: converting between thermal and electrical power units with enough accuracy for engineering work and enough clarity for a curious homeowner. The calculator runs instantly in the browser, with no tracking, no sign-up, and no limits.
What we built
A live, two-way converter covering BTU/hr, watts, kilowatts, megawatts, tons of refrigeration, mechanical horsepower, kilocalories per hour, and kVA (with power factor). Every conversion uses the internationally-standardized factor 1 BTU/hr = 0.29307107 W, so results match what you would compute by hand.
Each pair has its own page with a dedicated calculator, interactive scale diagram, formula derivation, worked example, reference table, real-world use cases, and FAQ. The home page adds a live particle visualization, a power-explorer slider, a unit-parity ruler, and a room-sizing tool for HVAC applications.
What we stand for
Every factor matches SI standards. Rounding is clearly shown.
No account, no popups, no paywalls. One job, done well.
Static pages, no loading spinners, no background fetches.
We don't track you, sell your data, or show ads.
Who this is for
- HVAC contractors cross-referencing BTU/hr to kW on European specs.
- Electrical engineers sizing UPS and generator cooling from kVA loads.
- Students solving thermodynamics problems.
- Homeowners comparing AC units across imperial and metric labels.
- Data-center operators translating IT load to cooling capacity.
