Privacy Policy

Plain-English privacy. What we collect (very little), what we don't, and your rights.

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Short version

  • The calculator runs in your browser. Values you enter never leave your device.
  • We do not sell personal data. Ever.
  • We show ads served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies to display relevant ads.
  • Basic hosting logs (IP, user agent) exist for security and performance.
  • Analytics, if enabled, use privacy-respecting tools that do not build cross-site profiles.

What we collect

In your browser (not sent to us)

The converter calculates results entirely in your browser. The numbers you type, units you choose, and power-factor values stay on your device. They are not uploaded, logged, or stored.

Server logs

Our hosting provider automatically records standard request metadata for security, abuse prevention, and performance monitoring. Typical fields:

  • IP address
  • Browser user agent
  • Timestamp of request
  • URL path requested
  • Referrer (if any)

These logs are retained for a short period (typically 30 days) and are not joined to any identity.

Analytics

If analytics are enabled, we use a privacy-respecting provider that does not set cross-site tracking cookies or build ad profiles. Data collected is aggregate (page views, countries at the country level, referrer domain). We do not record individual sessions or mouse movements.

Contact messages

If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your message, name (if provided), and email address. We use this only to respond to you and to improve the Site.

What we do not collect

  • Account information — we have no user accounts.
  • Payment information — the Site is free.
  • Precise location data — we do not use geolocation APIs.
  • Social profiles — we do not link to third-party social accounts.

Cookies and local storage

The Site uses a small amount of local storage for remembering preferences (such as dark mode). These are first-party only and stay on your device. In addition, our advertising partner may set cookies in your browser as described in the “Advertising” section below.

Advertising

This Site displays ads served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising network. We use advertising to keep the Site free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Where required by law (for example, for visitors in the EU, UK, and Switzerland), we present a consent choice before non-essential advertising cookies are set, in line with Google’s consent requirements. For more detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Third-party services

We rely on the following categories of service providers. Each handles only what is necessary for their function.

  • Hosting and CDN — serves the Site and maintains request logs.
  • DNS — routes requests to the hosting provider.
  • Email — delivers messages you send us via the contact form.
  • Advertising — Google AdSense serves ads (see the Advertising section above).

Aside from our advertising partner described above, we do not pass user data to other advertisers, data brokers, or social networks.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your data.
  • Object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

Since we collect almost nothing linked to identity, most of these requests will confirm we have no personal data to share or correct.

Children

The Site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves or laws change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
